Scott Smith’s The Ruins is a chilling and claustrophobic horror novel that follows a group of young travelers as their carefree vacation spirals into a nightmare. The story begins with two American couples, Jeff and Amy, and Eric and Stacy, enjoying a holiday in Mexico. They meet Mathias, a German tourist, and Pablo, nicknamed “Pablo” by the group due to their inability to pronounce his Greek name.
